Dr. Nancy Collins

Nancy is a highly popular Professor in Psychology and Brain Sciences at UCSB and the recipient of multiple awards for outstanding teaching, outstanding mentoring, and outstanding research ( including the SPSP Theoretical Innovation Prize, the Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award, and the Sarah Miller McCune Service Award). She is also a renowned expert in romantic and close relationships, the Director of the UCSB Close Relations Lab, and the Chair of the Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences (QMSS) program on campus.

Close relationships are essential to health and happiness for people of all ages. They can help us savor the good times, and provide a safe haven of comfort and support during difficult times. But maintaining happy relationships is not always easy, especially during times of stress and adversity. Drawing from relationship science, this talk will review the key components of successful relationships and provide practical tips for how you can cultivate secure and resilient relationships in good times as well as in bad times.
